Sustaining Member Program Designations
As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the Academy can help you achieve your own personal philanthropic goals because your contribution may be directed to specific programs of interest to you and your family. You may designate your gift to any or all of the programs below. If you do not designate your gift, it will be divided equally among all four programs.
Designation Spotlight
Skin Cancer Prevention
In 2010, all donations designated to Skin Cancer Prevention support the Academy’s Shade Structure Program, which helps community organizations build protective structures in outdoor play areas to provide shade and protect children and teens from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. The Academy received more than 1,000 applications in 2010 for the 33 grants available. Your support will help provide additional Shade Structures, furthering our efforts to reduce the incidence of and mortality from skin cancer over the next three decades.
Since 2002, the Academy has awarded 174 shade structure grants to organizations across the country. These shade structures provide shade for more than 125,314 individuals.
