Tribute donations are a meaningful way to commemorate a special occasion or event, recognize someone influential in your life, or honor the passing of a loved one. Tribute donations may also be as a direct result of an individual or group participating in some activity whereby an "incentive" is directed to the charity designated by the participant. AAD Camp Discovery offers life-changing summer camp experiences for children with severe skin diseases. While at camp, they meet others with similar skin conditions, make friends, and try new activities; all under the expert care of volunteer dermatologists and nurses. Special Events
Each year many dedicated individuals, companies and organizations host fundraising events to raise money for AAD programs. Events have included bike rides, 5K runs, marathons, golf outings and more. Your support of these events is important to the event organizers and to the Academy. Support a special event. Please specify the name of the event in the Comments section of the online donation form to ensure that your donation assigned appropriately.
Ride for Camp Discovery
Our longest running event, the Ride for Camp Discovery is a 100-mile bike ride on the Cape Cod Rail Trail in Massachusetts in support of AAD Camp Discovery. Started by Steven K. Shama, MD, FAAD in 1998, this event grows each year to include more participants and more funds raised. Join the Ride for Camp Discovery with your donation today. Annual donors play a key role in success of the Academy’s mission. Each year annual gifts help to sustain, grow and develop Academy programs and to enhance the specialty of dermatology. Without these donations, the Academy would not be where it is today.
